Star Wars Lego Valentines with “Lightsabers”

Valentine’s Day has become very much a candy/food day, much to my dismay. When I was small there was always a “cool” kid that gave out lifesaver candy valentines but the rest of us just did cards. E really wanted Star Wars valentines and I luckily found Lego themed ones that did not feature any characters from the prequels (the kids don’t know those exist, I’d like to keep it that way!). She also wanted to get glow in the dark bracelets (amazon affiliate link, though we got ours at Target) for the little party we had yesterday and I was struck by how like lightsabers they were!  A perfect non-food valentine, I think!

  1. Amelia’s was blue! Hooray!

We give out glow bracelets for Halloween. Some kids are disappointed, but I think a high percentage think they are cool – even the big kids!

  2. Perfect! Jane was more interested in the things she got than the candy. I was glad. She didn’t even throw a fit when I told her she could only have one a day. Our prizes are non food this year. I also don’t like how much candy they get. 😦

    1. I still haven’t put together any for Thursday yet, I know Kacey is doing glow bracelets so I’m doing something else, probably balloons or I’ll try to hit a sale on Wednesday and see what I come up with. You’re right, just giving candy is a problem even if there’s no food allergies to consider because it should be each family’s decision when and how much of a treat their child has.

  3. What a really darling idea! Light sabers! Just love it. It’s nice to avoid candy as I learned last Christmas with a child who could only eat Kosher. I don’t know how to choose Kosher, so avoiding all candy is much, much easier for all.
